Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about ForensiVault and how the platform supports professional evidence documentation.

Does ForensiVault perform forensic analysis?

No. ForensiVault is a documentation and recordkeeping system. It records handling procedures and activity history but does not analyze data or produce forensic conclusions.

Is this a case management system?

No. It is a documentation and custody tracking system, not a litigation or billing platform.

Is documentation created by the system automatically admissible?

Admissibility decisions are made by courts or reviewing authorities. The system provides organized documentation to help professionals explain procedures, but it does not determine legal admissibility.

Can users edit custody history?

Custody events are recorded as they occur. The system is designed to prevent retroactive editing of historical custody records so the timeline reflects documented activity. Corrections are recorded as amendment entries so the history remains intact.

Can reports be changed after generation?

No. Revisions create a new report while preserving the original.

Who can see my case information?

Only users assigned to a case or administrators with appropriate permissions can view the records. Permissions can be limited based on role.

Is my data confidential?

The platform is designed to support confidential professional work. Access is controlled and system activity is recorded to maintain accountability.

What happens if the system is unavailable?

Users record actions in temporary written logs and later enter them into the system once access is restored.

What happens if I stop using the system?

Users may export their documentation records. Account deletion procedures allow removal of user-accessible information from the system.

Is the system difficult to learn?

The workflow follows the natural sequence of handling a device: receiving, storing, accessing, examining, and reporting. Most users become comfortable after their first case walkthrough.

Are records permanently stored?

Yes. Records are preserved according to the retention policy and protected by backups.
